The Hotel consists of three Georgian houses built in 1807 for wealthy merchants and now converted into one building. The garden crescent in which the hotel is situated is named after John Cartwright, an advocate of parliamentary reform and universal suffrage who was the first Englishman openly to support the independence of the USA.
We have differing room types to suit all guests from basic rooms for budget single travellers to large en suite rooms to accommodate family groups.
Your full English and Continental Breakfast includes the following: cereals and juices, tea and coffee, toast and jam, honey or marmalade, bacon, sausage, eggs (to order), beans and tomatoes. You can eat as much as you want.
Please contact us directly for details of any discount available for adults travelling with children under 16. We usually offer children a full-sized bed, though on occasion we will have to bring in a portable one. We also offer a cot for babies. Children under 2 stay free.
There are four steps at the front of the building - assistance with those is always available. We have no lift but we have four well-appointed rooms on the ground floor - just ask for one of them when you make your reservation. There are telephones in every room and a member of staff is on call at all times.
